Amboseli National Park is located in the Masai area. Amboseli means “salty earth” in Masai because of the Alkali waters. The park is known as the best place in Africa to spot elephants and other animals from up close. In the Amboseli National Park you can also get acquainted with the Masai, and you will have a magnificent view of the Kilimanjaro, the biggest freestanding mountain in the world. The Amboseli Park has a very diverse vegetation, and it can vary from time to time.

Amboseli National Park has a surface area of 392 square meters and is a game reserve. The park is known for the best locations to spot elephants and other animals up close, such as buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, lions and hippos. Are you a bird lover? More than 400 different bird species can be found in Amboseli National Park! Amboseli National Park is also located in the Masai area, which means it will be possible to get to know the Masai tribe.

Kilimanjaro

Amboseli National Park offers magnificent view of the Kilimanjaro, situated next to Tanzania. The famous mountain has 2 noticeable summits: Kibo and Mawensi. They are always covered in snow. During the day it’s hard to spot the snowy summits because they are covered in clouds. The snowy summits are best visible in the early morning. That is why Netherken organizes excursions and hikes before the sun rises.

The area and animals

Kilimanjaro’s melt water causes the swamps to be very grassy, and the fields are covered with papyrus plants. Because of this, the area is breathtaking and a lot of different wild animals can be found here. You will be able to find the following animals in Amboseli National Park: Lions, elephants, leopards, zebras, hippos, giraffes, hyenas, gazelles, ostriches, and many more! The vegetation is very diverse and this all depends on the availability of water and its salt concentration. Usually, reed will grow along the shores of the Amboseli lake, but at the moment there is hardly any water in the lake.

Amazing 5 day tour through 3 safari-parks, Tsavo East, West and Amboseli

We did not really know what to expect, since it was the first time we did Safari, but we can now say that this trip did definitely beat our expectations. Seeing so much wild life in its own environment is absolutely a great experience.
